Remember lunchboxes from the 90s?

A sandwich, roll up or muesli bar and a piece of fruit! Maybe some coins to get an ice cup at the canteen…

This was my 11 year old’s lunchbox today. I get her to pack it so she has some autonomy over what’s in there. I feel like more gets eaten that way. There are some days where she barely touches anything and then we try to reiterate the whole “food is fuel” concept.

As girls become tweens/teens they can also be really dictated and influenced by what their friend group are and aren’t eating which is interesting.

My kid has always been a grazer so she has a variety of snacky things that she can grab which works best for her.

Kooee meat stick

Cobb popcorn bar

100% fruit strap

Apple

Cucumber

Carrot

Medjool dates with peanut butter

Blueberries

Banana and dark choc chip almond meal muffin

It can be really triggering to see a wholesomely balanced lunchbox on socials when your kid is going through a fussy stage. I’ve been there!

This lunchbox post isn’t to set an example of a “perfect lunchbox”. It’s just to say that kids are always changing, keep putting fresh food in and to pack yourself a lunchbox while you’re making theirs!
